Ah, winter in Chicago.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Yesterday morning I braved the drizzle (for all of about 20 minutes) and found these mossy trunks just a couple blocks from my apartment.

This is the prairie preserve at Wilson Beach.

A chilly spring late afternoon at Wilson Beach.

Friday, November 13, 2009

I was walking around my neighborhood, trying to finish up a roll of film, and caught sight of this entrance to a highrise apartment building.

A rainy afternoon at the skate park on Wilson Beach. I got soaked, but I kept the camera dry.

Thursday, November 5, 2009

After reading an article praising the meter on my 25-year-old Nikon FA for its ability to read night scenes properly, I decided to put it to the test.

Wilson Beach fossils.

Wilson Pier, looking south toward the big city.

Sunday, October 25, 2009

I spied this poor lonely guy the other day along a path I'd walked a hundred times before.

Wilson Beach in Chicago, after a storm.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I snapped this one yesterday at Montrose Harbor, about a mile north of my house.

Monday, October 19, 2009

A minute after I took this, the skies opened -- and I got soaked.

Zoe Elizabeth, at 11 weeks.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Last week I spent a bit of time pointing my camera up at an el train overpass in Edgewater, a neighborhood a few miles north of where I live in Chicago.

I don't know where everyone else was, but they missed a nice sunset.

Sunday, September 6, 2009

Here's another shot from the lakefront a block from my house.

Morning fog at the tip of Belmont Harbor.

Sunday, August 30, 2009

I post this photo primarily to prove that, on rare occasion, I do take my camera out when it's sunny. But I prefer shooting when the weather is something like this:

Another drizzly day along the lakefront.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

I was scouting around in Pilsen, a neighborhood on Chicago's near south side, and I stumbled upon this long-abandoned underpass. It was gated and locked, so I had to shoot these images through an iron grate.

A foggy morning on Lake Michigan.

Monday, August 17, 2009

The fog rolled in this morning, and stayed for only about 30 minutes. But luckily I had enough time to catch this image.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

I took this photo in the neglected back corner of a neglected Jewish cemetery in Chicago.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Since discovering that my favorite film stock -- Kodak Ultra Color -- has been discontinued, I decided to try out Fuji Reala. Overall, I wasn't happy with its colors. These two shots, though, made me happy.

Monday, August 3, 2009

I saw these clouds from my kitchen window at around 11am -- and noticed it was rapidly clearing to the west -- so I threw my Nikon FA over my shoulder and made a mad dash to the lakefront to snag this shot.
A slight chance of pace. My great-niece, Zoe Elizabeth. Seven days old and already bored with us all.

This sign hangs above a relatively new resale shop on Broadway, about a half mile south of my apartment.

More of my current obsession.

This is the path beside the bird sanctuary along the lakefront near my apartment. If you walk about 100 yards south, you stumble upon piked birdhouses:

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

These bird houses are directly east of my apartment, along Chicago's lakefront. They're a current obsession of mine, so expect to see more images of them in the near future.

It was a drizzly summer day, and I was out looking for things to snap in Rogers Park, a neighborhood on Chicago's far north side.

This was a quick snap taken as I was returning home from a few hours of shooting. I'm glad I snapped it ... because it's the only image from that day that I liked.
